The Côte de Beaune has a long and fascinating history. Wine growing here goes back to Roman times, and in the Middle Ages, the monks of citeaux and Cluny were responsible for setting up and developing numerous clos (walled vineyards) that remain famous to the day. In the early 12th century, the abbots of Cîteaux built wine cellars in Meursault and Aloxe-Corton. |
